(5th SDEEP Devlog) World Map


Hello! 

This week I wanted to show off the world map while explaining some of the things are displayed in it. I uploaded a larger image on my twitter: https://twitter.com/delusria54803/status/1790117074884301306

How the map works.

  • When you complete a dungeon all the surrounding dungeons will be revealed.
  • When you move the mouse over the dungeon you will be given information including: [Depth] [Type (1-6)] [+Target Level] [Quality of Treasure]
  • After every mission ALL of the dungeons have a small chance to be randomly afflicted by a modifier.


Dungeon Types (3 out of 6)

Shipwrecks (S): Characterized by their chaotic and rusted structures. These wrecks are often small and carry just enough supply to support their crew. Furthermore, unlike stationary dungeons, sometimes these shipwrecks have the ability to appear and disappear. A good source of equipment and treasure.

Caves (C): Identified by their natural, yet unpredictable layouts. Expect a lot of dead ends. It will be very rare to find a pirate stash  full of treasure buried here. You can mostly expect to find naturally occurring food sources.

Facilities (F): Classified by their spacious, looping interiors. These locations that have been abandoned by those who made them are now often occupied by salvors who made it their home. The constant raids from pirates prevent anyone from settling down. Due to salvors being the main inhabitants, this is the best source of equipment you can find. 


Modifiers: Rarely the missions can be affected by these which will increase loot given.

 Dark: Some floors will become covered in something that even the echograph struggles to keep track of. None of the floor will stay discovered when being explored. However the quality of the treasure increases as well.

 Flooded: Rare occurrence where all floor tiles become shallow water, and all shallow water tiles become deep water. However, there is an abundance of fish for those looking for the fish H-Scenes.


Next week I will be shifting heavily into refining the game toward a playable state in preparation for the next announcement. As for the devlog I will be most likely showing the other 3 dungeon types, some map things, and some things about the mechanics inside the levels.

Enjoyed the demo! Pre-ordered! Defo an unusual mixture of eerie, yet ripe for lewd events. I’m very much looking forward to further exploration and expansion!

 I see you’re taking suggestions/ideas. Spitballing:

-Using the breast and ass expansion to perform a threatening display of size (like a pufferfish) to scare creatures away, or out of blocking your path. Or using the added WEIGHT to break through unstable floors to new areas. Or, negatively, prevent you from crossing unstable gangplanks to other areas.
-Shrinking to access stuck doors, as she was unable to in the demo.
-Growing to bash through doors more freely, but at the cost of extra hunger.
-Lactating to distract pursuing enemies, or lure creatures out of hiding. (insert bad catfish joke)
-Venom or toxins triggering a hyper-aroused state that interrupts movement periodically to climax and moaning might alert creatures.
-Mold or some eldritch cursed item inflicting slime-girl; useful for traveling through pipes, if one’s feeling brave.
-A drunken/IQ dropping status that interferes with identifying loot vs garbage, but allows you to coax her through icky/scary areas she’d otherwise refuse to travel.
-Hermit crab wearing loot.
-I think I can assume squids are already in the works XD
-Just gonna say, Highgamer32’s loot angler fish idea is GREAT.
-and if you lean into the horror potential, what about sometimes, randomly, glowing eyes+teeth coming up in backgrounds of the echo scans? Always where she isn’t looking, and gone next scan.
-and you're ripe for a "inconceivably massive thing just out of sight passes by, and is never seen again" trick

 

It’s darn fun brainstorming how kinks might be used for game mechanics XD. I look forward to whatever this becomes! I think you have a great core concept, and the execution is great thusfar! (and smart, having an expansion reset after each mission. Having to make art for every-single-possible-combination would add exponentially more work)

LOL I love the idea of her making a plan to eat  a ton of expansion food to scare away creatures and then things go immediately wrong (maybe depending on the fish they're attracted to lactation). I'll put that one on the list.
Shrinking would be a good alternative way to handle all the stuck events too.

Putting faces in the dark of an echograph is a GENIUS idea. I won't spoil a later part of the game but the faces is a perfect addition to that.

And I agree! It is a ton of fun brainstorming for this. Every time I see you guys throw out ideas it gives me a ton of ideas as well. Honestly I need to make a discord for you all to discuss these ideas.

Sorry for an upcoming long message but i just kinda wanted to leave all potential suggestions at once, maybe some of them will inspire you :)

- Lactation: pretty self explanitory, it would be fun to have a mechanic where the salvor could "drain" herself once her breasts start getting too big for example, or maybe it could even work as a sort of distraction, leaving a trail of milk someone to lure away potential threat for a while, or maybe it could be an effect from some suspicious foods, causing her to have a constant lactation state  Or she could just milk herself for the fun of it if she starts getting used to it 😅

  - Idle events/Chat: i think it would add alot to the game if we could just have a little chat with salvo outside of story progression or scripted events, while she is idle, like a dedicated "start a conversation" button call it simply "chat" maybe she could share her feelings, thoughts and such with it, which could maybe also trigger some special interactions, say she feels silly now and tells us to use the echo graph cause she saw something only for us to see her flashing a boob in her hand or spanking her butt or something like that, maybe when she is anxious or uneasy we could compliment her to boost her morale, or while she is really stressed she could relax herself and ask if its ok to masturbate in order to let some of the stress out. Since a good portion of the game is text based it would be awesome to just have various optional events and chats with her when nothing in particular is happening to her, it would build her character by a lot and give her more personality and also interactibility for us, since we have a Y/N we could either be nice and supportive or mean and indifferent with our responses making the "protect her or not" aspect of the game even more complex.   i also simply think it's entertaining to have a silly moments with a protagonist in a horror esque enviroment, she does look like a type of person to do silly and lewd things for the fun of it, i really liked the marco polo exchange and wish for more interactions like these 😅

Cumflation: since the deep depths are knows for its big creatures, maybe once they engage with salvor, they would be so overwhelming for her, that they would fill her up, causing her to slow down significantly for a limited time until she drains all of it out one way or another. 

inventory menu: assuming salvo can only hold so much stuff maybe we could have a little pop up menu, where she could choose what to get rid of / leave on the ground   Bonus points if that menu had a little preview of salvo and how she currently looks from front and back (to enjoy both of her sides at any time) kinda like in an rpg  game  On that note (although i'm not sure how feasible that would be) it would be nice to see a little customization for salvo, maybe have a single different hairstyle or swimsuit to choose from  Or just tell her to go naked from the very beggining of the mission that could also be a nice option before every mission   


On a technical side of things, i think the chat log text could be a little bigger in my opinion  Aaaand that's it, i hope you may find some of these interesting or helpful :)

I like where your head is at! Definitely a lot of these things will be put in to the game. 

Without spoiling too much on the chat side of things, I think I'll be focusing more on the player's relationship with her during the late game missions as the story goes on, so expect special events based on her trust level to happen at the beginning and end of missions too.

As for the inventory management currently I'm keeping things super simple for the people who are just hunting the H-scenes, but you bring up a good point about dropping items. Maybe she automatically dumps treasure into the pod upon interaction so players can get their speed back.

I'll increase the size of the chat log too.  👍

do you take any suggestions on modifiers or such? Looking forward to the game. 

Sure! Still brain storming ideas and concepts for a lot of this stuff so I'm open for anything.

I realized I don’t know the full extent of the game’s mechanics so maybe I shouldn’t throw ideas out just yet. I also don’t know how far you are going with the horrors from the deep theme. (Like just pirates and such or are we getting fish people and monsters.)  But I was thinking angler fish treasure traps, gulper eel item thief’s, etc. gulper eels roaming the map and taking treasure and trying to leave with it unless you stop them, and Angler fish that look like or actually have treasure but if you don’t have the right gear you can’t get it. Also maybe have a modifier called “sirens song” which maybe alters or effects the radio transmissions in some fun way. Also if you do go more in the realm of deep sea horrors/fish monsters. I would say some sort of Greenland shark enemy that’s mostly blind, large but not to aggressive would be cool to see.

Ooooh I like the idea of the angler trap, perhaps its a treasure piece sitting in the center of deep water and if you walk her to pick it up a large angler fish will appear under the water.

Honestly going further into the horror ideas couldn't hurt too, I'll see what I can do there.

One other idea for a modifier was with the mushrooms. "Spore dispersal active"  where maybe their spores would have some sort of effect on her. So you could see that their are mushrooms for food but if she does grab them, for 30s-1min she sees stuff. Could make for some funny actions like her seeing a pair of glasses and thinking they are some ancient artifact. And since im realizing we are her eyes, the siren song idea could mess with our radar and make us see treasure or enemies but their isnt anything. leading to scenes where she is confused searching for something that isnt there.

Interesting, that would be a brutal effect, I imagine she has a chance to see trash as treasure, so you could get a full haul of treasure then cash it in and only find 1 or 2 things of value in there. That definitely would be a mod that would be around 100k.

And yea siren song could have items and possibly enemies that can't be seen by her. Maybe a wandering or chasing enemy that she can't see, but the closer it gets to her the more static interference happens on your end. 🤔

Only thing I ask is plenty of ass and breast expansion!

Are the plans for the Breast and Ass expansion to remain permanent or will they reduce in size again after the event?

Would be awesome to have some permanent changes.
Just played the demo and i love the concept, will 100% pre order!

Currently the idea is to have the expansion effects last until the end of the mission so I can control how much alternate art I have to do. Basically all events on a map that also has a BE or AE event will have alternate art. I would love to do art for all of it but at the current budget I have to have a cutoff point before release. (BUT I will say the game is set up to support permanent changes just in case it is something I want to revisit after release.)

lol if I were ever to do custom dungeons it would definitely be way after release. 

Steam release is something that I want to do soon! I hope to get it available over there before the full release.

Yo I love the idea of modifiers! Maybe for the flooded missions we're able to prepare by getting flippers or something so we can ignore the speed debuff of water?

Thanks! Yea currently throwing around the idea of whether or not I want to make that a perk of having a certain amount of equipment, or if I should make a shop to sell stuff like that.
